Opening Day!

Posted by Miss October:

The rain is gone, the sun is shining... perfect weather for Opening Day! I'm not there in person, but heading out to lunch to catch some of the pre-game festivities and hopefully the first inning or so...

Hopefully C.C. will make a great stadium debut... those starting pitchers have really stepped up the past few days.. .keep it up...

Play ball ! :)

A.J. to the Rescue...

Posted by: Miss October

A.J. Burnett's stellar outing was just what the doctor ordered... although I didn't watch much of the game itself. Since I was out and hadn't watched the first 5 innings, logic (or more like silly superstitions) made me not really watch the next few innings either , but rather "keep an eye on" the game. I was watching American Idol on my DVR, but left the game channel on so I could rewind it.. just in case. Oh well, the no-no just wasn't meant to be. A simliar system of me swithching rooms every half inning during the later parts of David Cone's perfect game was obviously the reason he was successful in his quest for perfection!

Other random note from last night's game... John Sterling's nickname for Nick Swisher is "Jolly 'Ol Saint Nick".. at least that's what he uses in his home run call..so silly.

4 p.m. game today before tomorrow's home opener.. (Is it just me, or does it feel like they have been playing a long time already?) Due to the Yankee execs re-shuffling of their ticket packages, it's the first time I'll be missing an Opening Day since 2002... but at least I'll be there during the first home stand... first visit this Sunday.

One Down...

Posted by: Miss October

I promised Mr. November I would post after the Yankees first win.. so.. here goes...

After cursing C.C. Sabathia in his first start (is this the guy we paid all that money for?) and watching the youngster Orioles get hit after hit off of Chien-Ming Wang, the Yankees secured their first win yesterday. The 1:30 start time didn't allow me to watch the game yesterday, so I'm not up on the play by play. But, A.J. Burnett got his first win, Mark Teixeira looks like he's starting to rembember how to hit... and I've picked my favorite "no name" Yankee to root for this year... Nick Swisher.

It's nice to see him contiributing and for his "firery" attitude. I mean, the guy thought he was coming to NY to be the starting first baseman, before they decided to sign a big-name free agent. So, now he's stuck on the bench. Instead of being dejected, he seems to be happy to be there. I hope he has a good season and his laid back, fun attitude rubs off on some of his teammates... Yes, I'm talking about you, A-Rod.
